So two questions...
1. Is he being paid overtime for those three days?
2. Bathroom?

the Herald-News in Roscommon, Michigan reported that 3 lakes in northern Michigan had been selected to host "an in-depth study into the breeding and habits of several species of fresh-water sharks." Two thousand sharks were to be released into the lakes including blue sharks, hammerheads, and a few great whites. The experiment was designed to determine whether the sharks could survive in the cold climate of Michigan. The federal government was said to be spending $1.3 million to determine this. A representative from the National Biological Foundation was quoted as saying that there would probably be a noticeable decline in the populations of other fish in the lake because "the sharks will eat about 20 pounds of fish each per day, more as they get older." County officials were said to have protested the experiment, afraid of the hazard it would pose to fishermen and swimmers, but their complaints had been ignored by the federal government. Furthermore, fishermen had been forbidden from catching the sharks.

ABC News: Vatican: Pope John Paul II Is Near Death: "VATICAN CITY Apr 2, 2005 Pope John Paul II was near death as dawn broke Saturday, his breathing shallow and his heart and kidneys failing, the Vatican said. Millions of faithful around the world paid homage, many weeping as they knelt with bowed heads, others carrying candles in prayer for the 84-year-old pontiff.
The pope 'is on the verge of death,' Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan, head of the Vatican's health care office, told the Mexican television network Televisa. 'I talked to the doctors and they told me there is no more hope.' "

After all the events of this week I will be spending today in prayer and reflection.
The Holy Father died tonight at 9:37pm Rome time.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (AP) - Terri Schiavo, the severely brain-damaged woman who spent 15 years connected to a feeding tube in an epic legal and medical battle that went all the way to the White House and Congress, died Thursday, 13 days after the tube was removed. She was 41."

Rest in peace Terri, it's over.

By RICHARD SISKDAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU
Christa Carpenter of Clearwater, Fla., holds crucifix as she stands among fellow pro-life protesters outside Terri Chiavo’s hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla.
-->
Protesters gather yesterday before Terri Schiavo's hospice. Schiavo was on sixth day without food or water.
-->WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court dealt a lethal blow to the efforts to keep Terri Schiavo alive yesterday and a Florida judge, noting the tempers surrounding the case, warned Gov. Jeb Bush against taking the law into his own hands.
The severely brain-damaged woman was on her sixth day without food and water as her husband, Michael, appeared to have finally won the right to allow his wife to die.
Terri Schiavo has been diagnosed as being in a persistent vegetative state for 15 years, and her husband has battled for 12 years with her parents, who believe she can be helped.
Michael Schiavo and Terri's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, held separate bedside vigils yesterday at the hospice near Tampa. Mary Schindler became distraught at the sight of her deteriorating daughter and had to leave the room, family friends said.
The Schindlers lost their last legal hopes yesterday when the full Supreme Court refused to hear the case.
About the same time, Florida state Circuit Court Judge George Greer dismissed Bush's effort to enter new medical evidence alleging that Schiavo's brain damage was "misdiagnosed."
Greer also took the remarkable step of alerting county sheriffs to block any attempt by state troopers to remove Schiavo from the hospice.
Earlier in the week, Bush had threatened to seize custody of Terri.
"I don't want this thing to turn into a donnybrook" that would turn a tragic family feud into a fiasco as troopers faced off with sheriffs, Greer said.
Bush's lawyers quickly entered the same motion with Federal District Judge James Whittemore, who has previously refused to restore Terri's feeding tube. Whittemore said he would rule quickly, but warned lawyers to eliminate the "emotional rhetoric" because it "does not influence this court."
Most of the lawyers and politicians involved in the emotional case indicated that there was nothing left to be done legally.
"We believe that effectively ends the litigation in this case," said George Felos, the lawyer for Michael Schiavo.
The White House issued a statement saying: "The President is saddened by the latest ruling. When there is a complex case such as this, where serious questions have been raised, the President believes we ought to err on the side of life."
Bush and his brother Gov. Bush came under pressure from Christian conservative supporters of the Schindlers to ignore court orders and use their police powers to stop Schiavo from dying.
The supporters announced a protest today at the governor's mansion and ripped the Bushes for knuckling under to "activist judges."
"It's now up to Gov. Bush," said the Rev. Patrick Mahoney outside the Pinellas Park, Fla., hospice where he led a handful of demonstrators.
"Regardless of a court order, we reject the fact that he [Bush] is powerless," said Mahoney, a veteran of right-to-life demonstrations and an "adviser" to the Schindlers.
"We have been bitterly disappointed and are hoping still that Gov. Bush will intervene," said Randall Terry, another self-described "adviser."
The governor acknowledged that his hands are tied.
"It is frustrating for people to think that I have power that I don't, and not be able to act," he said. "I don't have embedded special powers. I wish I did in this particular case."

DAY 7
Friends of Terri Schiavo's parents gave these descriptions of her:
Eyes sinking
Skin turning gray
Signs of dehydration
Condition weakening Originally published on March 25, 2005

Terri your suffering is almost over, rest in peace. My heart goes out to Terri's family, both sides. To lose a wife or daughter is tragic, but just as tragic is the political showboating and exploitation that has went on.

3.19.2005

The Daily News, Jacksonville NC: "Terri remains in her vegetative condition, but her feeding tube was removed Friday afternoon, according to her husband who sought to have the tube removed and so allow his wife to die. Bob and Mary Schindler, Terri's parents, are working against Michael, doing everything possible to keep their daughter alive. Florida's judicial system has by and large agreed with Michael.
The state's political system has sided with the Schindlers. National attention - both for euthanasia as well as against it - has created such pressure that the whole situation has landed in the Congress, which is in the process of moving the case into the federal court system, which has already said it doesn't want it.
Is this any way for life and death decisions to be made?
Terri Schiavo has become little more than a political football. The real concerns regarding the value of human life that her condition brings to light, have been lost in the power plays between legal, political and judicial authorities. Whether she lives or dies is less important now than who wins or loses. And that's a tragedy."

My god people, awaken and smell the coffee, this poor woman is dead. She would have died a long time ago except for our great technology! I speak from personal experance. My mother lived 14yrs after having a stroke that left her with the mentality of a twelve yr. old. Yes she was alive, but she could not remember what she did five minutes ago. She would create lies for her own gain, this was not the mother I grew up with... this was a diffrent woman who looked like my mother. No matter what I loved her, but it did shape/twist who I became and not only in good ways! Did she have enjoyment and pleasure? No, not really she was bitter because she had to be watched all the time, first by me and for the last six years by nurses in a home. In moment of breif clarity she always said she was sorry we had to go through all of this, and beg for it to end.

Well, the last few weeks have been good for the wife and I. The wife has a lead on a new job and has started treatment for her lymphedema . Now her treatment has her binding her leg up on a daily basis in compression bandages, this of course turns her into a bear to deal with. I, on the otherhand wish I could get a new job. I'm so tired of working graveyards and never getting sleep or enough quality time with the wife. Not to mention the politics & drama in the hotel, soap operas only wish they could be so intresting (but not exciting, for the most part). I had something lines up in Denver but three thousand dollars in moving expenses if it didn't work out was a little to much. Especially when the wife and I are looking at two thousand dollars that we have to pay out for a special compression pump for her leg!

On Saturday Carrie and I (Carrie being the before mentioned wife) on the spur of the moment went and saw Passion of Christ recut. They say Gibson removed seven minutes of the most gory parts of the movie, but the flaying seen still had me cringing. After the movie we headed to Lyles, a bar that is walking distance from our house and crawling distance too our house, not that we ever get that drunk anymore but just in case :) We then made it home to watch a movie but I'm not sure we even made it past the opening credits before going to bed. Sunday Carrie worked I wrote/read and then we watched Extreme Home Makeover, I swear this show brings a tear to my eye almost every time, well nuff said.

Your health, it's something that we all take for granted. The last three days has been a harsh reminder of that. In 1999 I suffered a viral infection of the heart (or at least that is what they think it was). The infection has left my heart about the size of a football and pumping at about 45% of capacity (EF 45) this is what they call heart failure. I live a normal life but have to watch the sodium (salt) intake and keep an eye on my general health a little more than most 37 yr olds. Now last weekend my heart had a little hiccup that caused me to gain ten pounds of fluid weight in a day and left me winded and tired. A bunch of doctor visits and tests latter I was doing alot better only to have the wife go in the hospital yesterday with an infection in her leg. Things go on...

2/1/05 Tues.
Today was a sleep day, which for me is everyday. I work graveyards 10pm to 8am or later Mon through Fri. plus frequent weekends (this is the cost of being a manager at a hotel, the Millennium Hotel Minneapolis to be precise). So on Mondays I don't sleep in (I try for regular sleep i.e. sleep at night with my wife) so by tuesday AM I've been up for 20+ hours and get kinda delirous. For the rest of the week I sleep 11am to 3 or 4 pm, most days I feel lucky if I get 4 hours sleep. Now why am I telling you all this? So you will understand my whining/ranting/raving about sleep. Carrie (my wife) works 7am to 3pm so when I sleep she works and when I work she sleeps! Not bad, but we really do miss the bed time. Not in the intimate way, just the comfort you feel knowing that the person you love is next to you.
Carrie and I where married in Oct,2003 so we are still rather newlywed like. We live in Minneapolis, four blocks from work and right accross from Loring Park. Where right downtown in the heart of the city, and never mind what you hear it's not ten feet of snow and twenty below zero 300 days out of the year, just five or so... We are renting a 2 bedroom + apartment that just barly hold us, three cats and the boxs that Carrie's mom keeps finding that belong to Carrie or at least that is what she says, I think she is just getting rid of her clutter by giving it to us. Don't get me wrong, there are some real finds in the box's but there is alot of stuff there too. Now Carrie and I don't really need help incollecting stuff we do that pretty well by ourselves. Between us we collecting Hummels, beer trays, beeny babies, rocks, old photos, stuffed animals (besides beeny babies), anything old/cool that we find at garage/estate sales and anything swedish. Carrie is part swed and I'm all Bohemian (my grandfather hated saying Czech). Dinner is almost ready so I'm off, till later

Ok the pain of the election, holidays, paying for the holidays and then a cold start to a new year has kept me away but now I'm back. Ok I've had a few people ask about myself (ok It was one person) so here it is: 37yr old male who is married to a ... ok never mind, just go here http://www.geocities.com/kobernat/index.html I hope to start to write here on a regular basis again and not just too slam Bush so.......

George Bush Resume

http://www.crikey.com.au/whistleblower/2003/12/03-0004.html <---- Link

RESUME - GEORGE W. BUSH

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

LAW ENFORCEMENT:I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been"lost" and is not available.

MILITARY:I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.

COLLEGE: I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a cheerleader.PAST

WORK EXPERIENCE: I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business in Midland, Texas, in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. With the help of my father and our right-wing friends in the oil industry (including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS: I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union.During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America. I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money.I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American history. With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida, and my father's appointments to the Supreme Court, I became president after losing by over 500,000 votes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT: I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week.I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury.I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history.I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period.I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period.I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the U.S. stock market. In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs and that trend continues every month.I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history. My "poorest millionaire," Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her.I set the record for most campaign fundraising trips by a U.S. President.I am the all-time U.S. and world record-holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations. My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends, Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in U.S. History, Enron. My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure my success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election decision. I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation or prosecution. More time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate rip-offs in history.I presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed.I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history.I changed the U.S. policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts.I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than any President in U.S. history.I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in the history of the United States government.I've broken more international treaties than any President in U.S. history.I am the first President in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove the U.S. from the Human Rights Commission.--this is true.I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law.--actually what happened is the World Court is changing into the International Criminal Court--because the US wants to be a part of the court, but notbe open to having the US have charges brought up against them, they have temporarily ceased negotiating with the countries involved in and taking part in the establishment of the ICC. So, in other words, the US wants to be able to establish the laws within the ICC, practice those laws within the ICC, but not have those laws applied to our country.I refused to allow inspectors access to U.S. "prisoners of war" detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention.--Guantanomo Bay.I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 U.S. election).I set the record for fewest number of press conferences of any President since the advent of television.I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year period. After taking off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst security failure in U.S. history.I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most disliked country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in worldhistory.I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people), shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind.I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked, preemptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. citizens, and the world community.I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families - in wartime. In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking Iraq, then blamed the lies on our British friends.I am the first President in history to have a majority of Europeans (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security.I am supporting development of a nuclear "Tactical Bunker Buster," WMD. I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein to justice.

RECORDS AND REFERENCES:All records of my tenure as governor of Texas are now in my father's library, sealed and unavailable for public view. All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view. All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President, attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.

New Jersey Governor Resigns, Saying 'I Am A Gay American'
08.12.2004 5:28 PM EDT

New Jersey Governor James McGreevey resigned from office Thursday, stating, 'I am a gay American.'

McGreevey spoke at a press conference in Trenton, New Jersey, Thursday afternoon (August 12), following allegations of corruption made by several of his political aides. The governor, who had served two years of his term, cited a 'consensual affair with another man.'

With his wife standing by his side, McGreevey announced his homosexuality. 'From my early days in school until the present day,' he said, 'I noticed something that separated me from others.'

'I have grappled with my own identity,' McGreevey continued, describing how he struggled to align himself with what he felt were values that would make him part of a 'traditional community.'

'My truth is,' he said, 'that I am a gay American.'"

A sad day for a major portion of the worlds population. Gay rights/issues took two steps back today, but no matter what is said or done the issues will not go away. Gaydom is NOT just a human choice or mistake but part of the natural process. It exsists in the animal kingdom (which let us not forget, humans are animals too) among most if not all species. And just for the record, no I'm not gay and if I was, it should not matter.

Tyson's Lastest Defeat Follows Familiar Pattern IBOP Boxing News: "HBO broadcaster Larry Merchant was an original investor in the Cloverlay Corporation. The Cloverlay Corp bank rolled Joe Frazier's career from 1965 through 1974. Merchant also covered Mike Tyson's career from his pro debut through his prime 1985-90. I once asked him to compare Frazier and Tyson. His exact response was as follows.
'Joe Frazier was a mile wide and a mile deep,' Mike Tyson is a mile wide and an inch deep.' Nothing I have ever heard or read sums up Mike Tyson's shortcomings as a fighter as profoundly as Merchants words.
For the record, I've always felt that Tyson was overrated at his peak by many writers and fans. If talent alone determined greatness, then Tyson is among the greats. However, talent is only a part of what determines an athlete or a fighters greatness. That being said, Mike Tyson is not one of the top-ten greatest Heavyweight Champions of all time. However, if excuses count, then maybe a case can be made for him?"

Being thirty six I remember watching Tyson in his prime. (or at least trying, I remember a fight in the late eighties I turned to fill my beer and the fight was over. I forget who he was fighting but it lasted 30-45 seconds only. I had paid $20 to watch the fight in a bar..... gggrrrr I was so mad) I was really pulling for Mikes come back I feel that he has had some bad turns/luck in life. Maybe next time.... and with his fame dwindling I think that he has only one or two more chances. In my humble opinion Mike needs to go back to basics and fight on some minor cards to prove to himself and his few fans that he still has a few fights left. Forget the big payouts and declare bankruptcy Mike (in case you don't know he is like $28 nmillion in debt! and broke.), maybe just maybe you can make enough then, to start over.

Inspectors in postwar Iraq have 'found the former nuclear weapons program, described as a 'grave and gathering danger' by President Bush and a 'mortal threat' by Vice President Cheney, in much the same shattered state left by U.N. inspectors in the 1990s.' [Washington Post, 8/10/03, 1/7/04]"

TheStar.com - Justifying torture brings shame to U.S.: "Justifying torture brings shame to U.S.

The Bush administration assures the country, and the world, that it is complying with U.S. and international laws banning torture and maltreatment of prisoners.
But, breaking with a practice of openness that had lasted for decades, it has classified as secret and refused to disclose the techniques of interrogation it is using on foreign detainees at U.S. prisons at Guantanamo Bay and in Afghanistan and Iraq.
This is a matter of grave concern because the use of some of the methods that have been reported in the press is regarded by independent experts as well as some of the Pentagon's legal professionals as illegal.
The administration has responded that its civilian lawyers have certified its methods as proper but it has refused to disclose, or even provide to Congress, the justifying opinions and memos."

President Reagan dies at 93: "WASHINGTON - Ronald Reagan, the cheerful crusader who devoted his presidency to winning the Cold War, trying to scale back government and making people believe it was ``morning again in America,'' died Saturday after a long twilight struggle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 93.
He died at his home in California, according to a family friend, who initially disclosed the death on condition of anonymity. The friend said the family has turned to making funeral arrangements. A formal statement from the family was expected later."

Even as a staunch anti republican I must mourn the passing of a great man.
